future of soundscapes: scenarios

To design a series of tool that would help people adapt to changing soundscapes—this is the current theme of my final project. Inspired by the extent, to which science fiction can inform science and design (I investigated into this relationship in my MA dissertation titled: "Lingua Extraterrestris—lessons in universal communication or the designer’s understanding of CETI in science and fiction"), I decided to act from a position of science-fiction writer myself. Hence, my first step will be to write trustworthy and feasible scenarios, in which modern scientific research and the use of present technologies will interweave with fictional situations. To do this, I will base my predictions on some of the six methods described by J. Sowa in his article "Złudzenie balistyczne" (2009, 2+3D Polish Design Quarterly, #33). Having selected my methodologies for anticipating future changes, I will combine them with selected methods for changing human behaviour (source needed). This will hopefully lead me to generating reliable scenarios, which in turn should inform designing of artifacts/prototypes/visualisations.
